Celebrate the blue - Honor the gold

Every athlete knows this: there are things we can control, and things we cannot. This is true for training and for matches alike.

We can control how often we show up to train, the level of effort we give, and the mindset that we carry throughout a match — both when everything is clicking and the game feels easy, and also, of course, when everything is hard, we feel way in over our heads, and we are hanging on by a thread. These are the aspects of the game that we can control. They are the blue. Celebrating the blue — taking care of what we can control, loving the daily grind, and giving ourselves the best chance to win — is the foundation of everything that the APTL represents.

And the gold? The gold is that which is beyond any one person’s control. You can play the very best match of your entire life — and still lose. You can be up 5-3 in the third set but a storm breaks out, suspending the match for two hours. After the intermission, your opponent has suddenly figured out your game, pushes it into a tie-break, and you can’t quite hold on.

Try as you might, the gold is the gold for a reason: you can want it with everything you’ve got, you can fight like hell for it, and you can try to summon it through sheer will, but it is never, ever promised. Because it is sacred and not entirely in our control, we can only strive for it, and honor the gold when it comes.

Welcome to the APTL. We’re thrilled you’re here, and we can’t wait to build this league with you.

- Jordan Myers

Jordan Myers is a tennis player and storyteller. With a background as an NCAA Division I athlete and a late-blooming surge as an aspiring professional tennis player, he brings both competitive grit and a fresh perspective to the court. Jordan also holds an MFA in creative writing and has a passion for capturing the journeys of those striving for greatness—on and off the court.

As a Co-Founder and Resident Athlete, Jordan’s role is to document, explain, and amplify what the league is building: a more accessible, more sustainable pro pathway that highlights the stories, challenges, and triumphs of the athletes and community making it possible. His own athletic approach is deeply rooted in the art of Core Energetics and somatic bodywork, leaning on breath, instinct, and body alignment to maintain physical durability and a grounded presence on the court.

Jordan’s own experience navigating the gaps and barriers in the current tennis system helps inform the league’s mission and messaging. But the APTL is bigger than any one person: it is an ecosystem being built for players facing these challenges—regardless of age, gender, or ranking.

Jordan is training to pursue an ATP ranking outside of the league. His path into competitive tennis has been unfolding over several years—and the APTL grew directly out of what he saw players need along the way. He will not compete as a player in the APTL. Instead, he serves as its co-founder and voice, using his vision and storytelling to help build the league’s purpose, grow its community, and support athletes trying to reach the next level.
